Meet the MedPearl masterminds and learn how it got started.
Magic happens when clinicians work with technologists.
MedPearl results from the combined research and development efforts of hundreds of clinicians and engineers at Providence. Founded by Eve Cunningham, MD and Chief of Virtual Care and Digital Health at Providence, MedPearl is healthcare’s first co-pilot.
The MedPearl platform was born to provide immediate and actionable medical knowledge at the point of care. Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and a no-code environment, combined with EMR integration, MedPearl is the ultimate medical knowledge platform.

Frequently asked questions.
How does MedPearl access and integrate patient data from our existing electronic health record (EHR) system?
For MedPearl Plans that include patient data contextualization, the integration is done via a secure API.
Does MedPearl comply with relevant healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality?
Yes, MedPearl is compliant with all relevant healthcare regulations to include HIPAA compliance, patient privacy and confidentiality.
Is MedPearl more of a reference tool or does it offer recommendations?
MedPearl provides consolidated clinical content and information that allows users to make better informed decisions. MedPearl is not a substitute for a clinician’s own clinical judgement, but it can help guide the clinician when needed.
How is the content sourced and updated to ensure it remains current and evidence-based?
Primary care or urgent care clinicians review national guidelines and/or sit with specialists to determine what is important to know at the time of visit with primary care and urgent care. The content governance includes a fellowship-trained medical editor reviewing each topic before it is published.
How often is the medical knowledge updated and how do you communicate those updates to your customers?
Reviews are set based on the topics – some are reviewed more often due to rapidly changing information, publication of new guidelines, or user feedback.
How does MedPearl handle potential conflicts between different medical guidelines or expert opinions?
Areas of uncertainty are marked as such in the content.
How does MedPearl handle complex or rare medical cases for which standard guidelines may not exist?
Specialists advise general first-line considerations for these situations.
Can MedPearl assist with drug and medication dosing recommendations?
While MedPearl is not a drug library, medication information is provided in some of the topics now and more is being added.
Is MedPearl customizable to suit the specific needs and workflows of our healthcare facility and clinicians?
Depending on the MedPearl plan purchased, the library can be built from scratch or by adding and editing the core MedPearl library. Minor customization can be made even from the MedPearl Essentials Plan.
How user-friendly is the interface of the MedPearl? What training or onboarding support do you provide to help our clinicians adopt it seamlessly?
MedPearl is easy to implement, intuitive and was developed without needing special training for use. We offer a recommended implementation process involving a champion-driven change management and communications plan. To help providers easily get started, we offer voluntary onboarding sessions for initial access and and to answer any questions they may have.
Are there any data analytics or reporting functionalities available to track usage and measure its impact on patient outcomes?
Data analytics is available with the MedPearl Essentials, Plus and Enterprise Plans. Each plan has a different level of analytics available.
Can MedPearl be seamlessly integrated with our existing healthcare software systems and EHR platform?
The MedPearl team works with your IS team to integrate with a single sign-on experience for your users and to create an API that is EMR agnostic for patient data contextualization and other EMR data needs.
What level of technical support or customer service does MedPearl offer, and how quickly can issues be resolved?
